March PatronManager Certified Admin of the Month

Our PatronManager Certified Admin of the Month for March is Sarah Shoffner, Customer Engagement Manager at Boston Gay Men’s Chorus in Boston, Massachusetts.

We asked Sarah some questions about her journey and current role as a PatronManager Administrator at her organization. Here is what she shared with us:

1. What is one of your goals for 2020?

One of our major goals moving into the new year was migrating the historical data on our singers into PatronManager. We have a few tours and festivals left to add in, but we currently have a total of 1841 members and about 120 performances already logged in the system! I have made a beautiful Badge – something that easily identifies information in PatronManager – that updates to say “Current Member” or “Past Member,” depending on their membership status. We’re now able to easily integrate membership into our reporting and can properly track auditionees in PatronManager. This way no matter if it’s Box Office or Development, the badges help us identify who we are talking to and how they may be interacting with our org. Next, we plan to reconnect with lost members!

2. Which one of your organization’s events are you most excited about this year? (If you had to pick one…)

Our annual gala is my baby so I am biased on that one. This year’s fundraising gala, Encore, will be on May 2, 2020 at Aloft Boston Seaport District.

3. Are there any current or upcoming technology trends that you’re excited about?

I’m looking forward to implementing SMS text messaging communication with our patrons. We want the ability to send event reminders, and allow our patrons to make donations via text messaging integrated into PatronManager. Most of all we are excited about having more natural conversations with our patrons through text, which is then logged into our system in case a different employee will be picking up where the last conversation left off.

4. Is there anyone from the Client Community, Client Support Team, or Education Team that has helped you and your organization improve during your journey to becoming a Certified Admin? Please shout them out!

Director of Client Engagement Elise Rebman has been a great mentor and gave me the pep talks I needed in preparation to take the Certification Exam.

5. What is your favorite vacation spot?

My favorite vacation spot usually involves a body of water. I don’t go far from the ocean, a lake, or a river. There is something so peaceful and centering around the water.

6. Which words or phrases do you most overuse or are known for saying?

“Food for thought,” which is usually followed by some crazy idea.

7. What is your most treasured possession?

My grandmother turned her engagement ring into a necklace. When she passed away, it was given to me and ever since then, I wear it almost every day. She always loved hearing about my travels. I like to think that she is exploring the world with me when I am wearing it.
